The Dees’ emphatic win over the Dogs saw them finish the season well-ahead on the two Rating Systems, 5.2 Scoring Shots clear of the Dogs on MoSSBODS, and 14.7 Points clear on MoSHBODS.

That left the two Systems still completely agreeing only about the top seven and the bottom three teams, but differing by no more than a single spot about any of them.

The correlation between MoSSBODS’ and MoSHBODS’ Combined Ratings finishes at +0.9933.

On the Component Ratings, on Offence MoSSBODS and MoSBODS finish with Top 3s of Dees, Lions, and Dogs, while on Defence both Systems have final Top 3s of Dees, Cats, and Dogs.

Only five teams finish above-average on offence, according to MoSSBODS, and just six teams according to MoSHBODS. Twelve teams finish above-average on defence, however, according to both Systems.

The correlation between the teams’ MoSSBODS offensive and defensive Ratings finishes at +0.784, which I think might be a season-high.

In the animation below, we can see the path that each team has taken to arrive at its current Rating. Melbourne really has found its own part of the dance floor.

Lastly, to MARS, where we find that Melbourne has finished with an 8.4 Ratings Point lead over Brisbane Lions, with the Western Bulldogs relegated to 3rd a further 4.8 Ratings Points behind.

Five teams then finish the season rated better than 1,020, and five more rated better than 1,000. West Coast is then the only other team rated better than 985.

Looking across the three Team Rating Systems, MARS finishes with the outright most extreme ranking for 10 teams. MoSSBODS finishes with the outright most extreme ranking for only four teams, and MoSHBODS for only two.

MoSSBODS and MoSHBODS agree about the ranking of 12 teams, MoSSBODS and MARS about the ranking of five teams, and MoSHBODS and MARS about the ranking of eight teams.

Lastly, if we consider the range of rankings that the three Systems have attached to each team, we find that West Coast has the widest range of rankings (four spots), while 16 teams have rankings that differ by no more than two spots, including Adelaide, Essendon, Gold Coast, North Melbourne, and Melbourne, about whom all three Systems agree on a ranking.
