MatterOfStats 2020 : Team Dashboard for Round 7

The latest Rankings on Dashboard Metrics table appears below.

Of all the metrics, the MoS Win Production Function continues to show the highest rank correlation with teams’ ladder positions.

It suggests that:

• Adelaide has won 1.2 games fewer than might be expected given its scoring statistics

• Fremantle has won 1.0 games fewer

• Essendon has won 0.9 games more

• Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn have won 0.8 games more each

Every other team is within 0.6 wins of what would be expected.

The full Team Dashboard appears below, and shows that:

• Geelong are still yet to win a Q2, and Melbourne a Q3.

• North Melbourne have scored almost 60% of their points in the second half of games, Collingwood over 60% in the first half, and Sydney over 60% and the Gold Coast almost 65% in Q2 and Q3 combined

• Port Adelaide remain the only team to have outscored their opponents in all four quarters taken individually

• Adelaide remain the only team that has been outscored by their opponents in all four quarters taken individually

• Carlton has won only one quarter fewer than Port Adelaide, and as many as Brisbane Lions.
