/The latest Rankings on Dashboard Metrics graphic appears below, and reveals that team rankings on the following metrics are most highly correlated with ladder position:
Percent of Quarters Won (+0.89)
Own Points per Game (+0.87)
The MoS Win Production Function (+0.86)
Own Goals per Game (+0.85)
Own Scoring Shots per Game (+0.79)
Q3 Performances (+0.74)
Least highly correlated are:
Own Scoring Shot Conversion (+0.34)
Q2 Performances (+0.42)
Opponent Scoring Shot Conversion (+0.49)
Overall, arguably, the the Western Bulldogs’ rankings look least congruent with their ladder position, although Essendon still has legitimate claims, too.

Sydney have won 23 quarters this season, GWS 21, and Geelong and Melbourne 20
North Melbourne has won only four quarters this season
Geelong generated fewer scoring shots than their opponents have in Q4s. They’ve won only 44% of them and have a percentage of just 104.
Port Adelaide have generated fewer scoring shots than their opponents have in Q2s.
Fremantle have generated fewer scoring shots than their opponents have in Q1s.
Essendon have generated fewer scoring shots than their opponents have in Q1s, Q2s, and Q3s.
Gold Coast has outscored their opponents by almost 2:1 in Q2s, but been outscored by their opponents in every other quarter
Hawthorn has outscored their opponents in Q2s, but been outscored by their opponents in every other quarter
Richmond has narrowly outscored their opponents in Q1s, but been outscored by their opponents in every other quarter
The only teams to have outscored their opponents in every quarter are Geelong, Melbourne, Port Adelaide, and Sydney.
Brisbane Lions has scored 65% of their points in 1st halfs and conceded 60% in 2nd halfs. They’ve converted at only 23% in Q3s
Melbourne has scored 59% of their points in 2nd halfs
Carlton’s opponents have converted at over 70% in Q1s
North Melbourne. West Coast, and Western Bulldogs have converted at 66% or higher in Q1s.
