The MoS Win Production Function (+0.82)

Scoring Shots Conceded (+0.79)
Opponent Scoring: Goals (+0.77)
Scoring Shots Recorded (+0.71)
Q4 Performances (+0.7)
Own Scoring: Points (+0.7)
The weakest rank correlations with ladder position are associated with:
Own Scoring Shot Conversion (+0.19)
Opponent Scoring Shot Conversion (+0.43)
It remains the case that a number of teams in the Top 8 on the ladder are ranked extraordinarily lowly on some metrics.

Geelong and Melbourne are the only teams to have outscored their opponents in all four quarters taken separately.
Sydney have outscored their opponents in Q1s , Q2s, and Q3s, but lie 10th on the ladder.
Gold Coast, Hawthorn, North Melbourne and West Coast are the only teams to have been outscored by their opponents in all four quarters taken separately
Collingwood have registered fewer scoring shots than their opponents and have registered only a 91 percentage in Q3s
St Kilda have registered substantially fewer scoring shots than their opponents and have registered only a 73 percentage in Q2s
GWS have registered fewer scoring shots than their opponents in both Q1s and Q2s, and have percentgaes of just 88 and 86 in those two quarters
St Kilda, despite sitting 5th on the ladder, have lost more quarters than they’ve won.
Collingwood’s opponents have converted at only 38%, GWS’ at 41%, and St Kilda’s at 43% in Q4s this season
By way of contrast, Brisbane Lions’ opponents have coverted at 65% and Gold Coast’s at 62% in Q3s
