Below are WoSHBODS’ forecasts for the first week of the AFLW Finals.

WoSHBODS, based on (obviously limited) history, finds that VPVs are multiplied during Finals, and doesn’t like the Cats’ historical record at GMHBA Stadium, but loves the Pies’ (and doesn’t love the Dogs’) at Victoria Park, the upshot of which you can see in the fairly dramatic forecasts above.

(There will, of course, be a full review of WoSHBODS between this and next season, and its treatment of Finals will be an important part of that.)

Team Ratings

The forecasts above use the latest Team Offensive and Defensive Ratings, which have evolved over the course of the season for each team as shown below in static and dynamic form. As you’ll see, there are minimal changes to the ratings after last weeks’ results because WoSHBODS responds only minimally to late home-and-away season results (based on empirical data).
