MatterOfStats 2017 : Team Dashboard for Round 4
The latest Team Dashboard reveals, among other things, that:
- Exactly one half of the teams have a percentage above 100 (and one half below 100)
- The first five teams on the ladder have the five best percentages in the competition, and in the same order as their ladder ranking
- Fremantle have the 2nd worst percentage of all the teams and a smaller percentage than the five teams immediately below them on the ladder
- Every team except Geelong, Brisbane Lions, and Sydney have kicked more behinds than Hawthorn have kicked goals (and the three teams that have missed out are only one behind behind as it were ...)
- Adelaide is in the top 3 on all the Scoring Shot metrics excepting Opponent Scoring Shot Conversion rate, on which it ranks 15th. Unless their opponents have been very lucky, that means it has been giving them, on average, quality shots on goal (not that it's mattered much, so far)
- Geelong are 1st on both Own and Opponent Scoring Shot Conversion rates
- Collingwood are 2nd, and West Coast 3rd on Opponent Scoring Shot Conversion rates and are the only other teams that have forced their opponents, collectively, to convert at less than 50%
- Adelaide have yet to lose a 2nd or 4th Quarter, and have outscored their opponents more than 2:1 in those quarters
- GWS have yet to lose a 1st Quarter
- Melbourne and West Coast have yet to lose a 2nd Quarter
- Richmond have yet to lose a 4th Quarter, and are the only team to have, in aggregate, outscored their opponents in all four quarters
- The Western Bulldogs have yet to lose a 3rd Quarter but have scored only 40% of the points registered in 4th Quarters in their games so far
